Child Protection Coordinator – Katsina, Nigeria

About the role

The Child Protection (CP) Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for the ECHO‑funded Education in Emergencies (EiE) and Child Protection project in Yobe and Katsina States. Reporting to the Program Manager – ECHO, the role ensures high‑quality, child‑safeguarding‑compliant implementation across all activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation and monitoring of integrated CP and EiE interventions in line with ECHO requirements and CP Minimum Standards.
• Oversee delivery of case management, psychosocial support, community‑based protection, and risk‑mitigation components.
• Integrate CP safeguards into education activities, ensuring safe learning environments and effective referral pathways.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and capacity‑building to CP, MHPSS and EiE staff and partners.
• Guide the safe use of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) within CP programming and ensure compliance with safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in child protection and humanitarian programming, preferably in education‑in‑emergencies contexts.
• Strong knowledge of CP Minimum Standards, CPMS and national child protection systems.
• Ability to lead multi‑stakeholder partnerships and promote child participation.

Required skills

• Case management and alternative care methodologies.
• Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) techniques.
• Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) design and implementation for child protection.
• Safe identification, referral mechanisms and CP mainstreaming in education.
