Chief Physiotherapist

About the role

The Chief Physiotherapist will lead the physiotherapy service of a multi‑specialist hospital, setting rehabilitation standards and ensuring compliance with MRTB regulations. This senior position combines clinical governance, staff development and resource management within a patient‑centred environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership of the physiotherapy service and establish rehabilitation care standards.
• Lead service planning, rostering, caseload allocation and skill‑mix across the team.
• Oversee clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and outcome monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with MRTB requirements and inspection standards.
• Supervise, appraise, develop physiotherapy staff and coordinate continuing professional development.
• Manage equipment, resources and interfaces with other clinical services.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Minimum 8 years post‑registration experience, including senior or supervisory roles.
• Proven experience leading or coordinating a physiotherapy team or unit.
• Experience in service organisation, quality assurance and staff appraisal.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary hospital team.
