Chief Finance Officer

About the role

The Chief Finance Officer will provide strategic financial direction for a government‑backed energy and power initiative in Nigeria. Reporting to executive management and the board, the CFO will oversee all finance functions across multi‑billion‑naira infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Set and align the organisation's financial strategy with its infrastructure and industrial growth mandate.
• Oversee treasury management, budgeting and financial planning across all business units.
• Lead capital structuring and financing arrangements for large‑scale energy and power projects.
• Manage relationships with investors, lenders and development finance partners.
• Ensure statutory compliance, robust internal controls and audit readiness.
• Provide accurate, timely financial reporting to the board and government oversight bodies.
• Advise executive management on fiscal discipline, transparency and long‑term value creation.
• Oversee financial risk management to safeguard fiduciary integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Master's degree (MBA, MSc Finance) is an advantage.
• Professional certifications such as ICAN, ACCA or CFA are required.
• 13‑15 years progressive experience in corporate finance, treasury or financial management, with significant exposure to large‑scale infrastructure or energy financing.
• At least 7 years in a senior leadership role managing a finance function.
• Demonstrated experience in capital raising, project finance and multi‑billion‑naira budget oversight.
• Experience in the public sector, oil & gas, power or infrastructure sectors is desirable.
