Business Manager, Retail SME

About the role

The Business Manager, Retail SME will lead the growth and profitability of the SME portfolio for a leading bank in Nigeria. You will be responsible for driving acquisition, managing credit facilities, and overseeing a team of relationship officers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute acquisition strategies to expand the SME portfolio.
• Conduct market scans to identify viable SME opportunities.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified SME prospects.
• Manage relationships with key SME clients, both top‑tier and growth accounts.
• Drive customer engagement through physical and digital channels.
• Review, structure, and recommend SME credit facilities.
• Oversee the SME loan portfolio to ensure quality and performance.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate SME Relationship Officers/Account Officers.
• Achieve loan, deposit, and revenue targets while monitoring profitability and risk metrics.
• Prepare and present regular performance reports and contribute to budget planning.

Required profile

• At least 6‑8 years of banking experience with strong exposure to SME sales and relationship management.
• Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• First degree in any discipline; a Master’s degree or professional qualification is an advantage.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams.
