Business Development Officer (Enterprise Development)

About the role

INTERSOs is recruiting a Business Development Officer (Enterprise Development) in Nigeria, working under the Livelihood Project Manager. The officer ensures that ten facilities across MMC, Jere and Mafa LGAs run as viable businesses, setting up business plans, pricing, bookkeeping, cost recovery and access to finance so each enterprise can pay its own way after handover.

Key responsibilities

• Assess each enterprise's business position and lead the financial side of fish-farm profitability diagnostics
• Develop business plans, costing and pricing tools, and present them to the members' General Assembly and the LGA Oversight Committee
• Design revenue-sharing plans, asset renewal reserves and tapering of transitional stipends
• Set up simple bookkeeping and coach treasurers and records keepers monthly
• Support cooperative registration, bank accounts with dual signatories and governance rules
• Deliver entrepreneurship and financial literacy training to at least 300 participants and link at least 200 to VSLAs or microfinance
• Track monthly revenue, costs and profits, flag problems and contribute to handover reports

Required profile

• University degree (B.Sc. or HND) in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Agribusiness, Cooperative Studies or a related field; a Master's or MBA is desirable
• At least 4 years of experience in enterprise development, agribusiness, cooperatives or livelihoods programmes
• Experience developing business plans, bookkeeping systems, adult training and working with NGOs, UN agencies or government programmes in North-East Nigeria
• Fluent English and spoken Hausa; Kanuri is desirable
