Business Development Manager (Retail Technology)

About the role

The Business Development Manager will drive growth for cartwey by identifying and securing new retail partnerships. Based on‑site in Ibadan, this full‑time role focuses on expanding the adoption of our self‑checkout mobile app across modern retail environments.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect, qualify, and manage a sales pipeline of retail partners.
• Conduct market research and analyse data to shape sales strategies.
• Prepare and deliver product presentations, demos, and proposals.
• Negotiate commercial terms and close deals that align with company objectives.
• Build and maintain long‑term relationships with key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product and operations teams to tailor solutions to client needs.
• Monitor performance metrics and report on growth targets.
• Represent cartwey at local industry events and gather partner feedback.
• Contribute to go‑to‑market strategies for new features and services.

Required profile

• Proven business development experience, including lead generation, pipeline management, and deal closure.
• Strong client relationship and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to conduct market research, analyse insights, and translate them into actionable sales plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience preparing proposals and delivering demos.
• Comfort with technology and mobile applications; experience in retail, SaaS, or payments is a plus.
• Effective negotiation and problem‑solving abilities focused on win‑win outcomes.
• Self‑motivated, organised, and able to work independently while collaborating cross‑functionally.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with CRM tools and basic sales reporting; willingness to learn new systems.
