Board Member (Volunteer)

About the role

The Board Member will join the governing board of Platform Speakers for Schools, a Lagos‑based nonprofit dedicated to improving education and opportunities for youth in underserved communities. This volunteer position offers a hybrid work arrangement with occasional on‑site meetings and community visits.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance and oversight of the organization’s mission, vision, and long‑term plans.
• Review and approve budgets, policies, and program designs, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Participate in regular board meetings, committee work, and periodic visits to schools or community projects.
• Support resource mobilization through networking, partnership development, and fundraising initiatives.
• Act as an ambassador for the organization within professional and community networks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in nonprofit governance, social impact, education, youth development, or community advocacy.
• Strong understanding of challenges faced by young people in underserved Nigerian communities.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, child safeguarding, and the organization’s mission.
• Ability to dedicate consistent time for board meetings and committee responsibilities.
