Baggage Handler – Airport Operations

About the role
The Baggage Handler ensures safe, efficient handling of passenger luggage at United Nigeria Airlines' airports in Abuja and Lagos. You will work with specialised equipment to load, unload and transport baggage while maintaining strict safety and security standards.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, sort and verify luggage against flight manifests.
- Transport baggage from check‑in areas to departure zones.
- Load and unload aircraft using baggage trucks, cargo loaders and conveyor systems.
- Protect luggage from weather exposure when required.
- Store cargo in warehouses and manage loading onto aircraft holds.
- Operate baggage reclaim conveyors and ensure correct routing.
- Report suspicious items to security or police immediately.
- Record and resolve damaged or mis‑routed baggage and load discrepancies.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of relevant baggage‑handling or ground‑operations experience.
- At least 18 years of age with good vision and normal colour perception.
- Physical fitness to lift heavy items and work late shifts.
- Reliability, honesty and ability to follow safety procedures.
Required skills
- Operation of conveyor systems.
- Use of barcode recognition equipment.
- Handling of lifting and cargo‑loading machinery.
- Basic mechanical skills for equipment operation.
