Backend SaaS Software Developer – Landscape

About the role

We are looking for a Backend SaaS Software Developer to join Canonical’s Landscape team. You will help build the next‑generation management solution for Ubuntu enterprises, delivering observability, telemetry, security and compliance features for on‑premise and public‑cloud deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed, global development team.
• Write high‑quality Python code to add new features, fix bugs and modernise the Landscape codebase.
• Ensure code quality through automated testing, code reviews and architectural reviews.
• Take ownership of problems, design solutions and deliver them end‑to‑end.
• Assist with release management each development cycle.
• Work with DevOps to operate the Landscape SaaS platform.
• Travel 2–4 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM or equivalent.
• Passion for open‑source, Linux and building web services at scale.
• Curious, flexible, accountable and self‑motivated.
• Experience developing public‑facing APIs and web applications.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Web frameworks such as Flask or Django.
• Databases and ORMs (PostgreSQL a plus).
• Ubuntu as development and deployment platform.
• API design and implementation.
