Backbone Optical Network Project Manager

About the role

Timeless Telecom is seeking an experienced Backbone Optical Network Project Manager to lead the end‑to‑end delivery of long‑distance fiber optic backbone projects across Nigeria. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects while ensuring quality, safety, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage full‑cycle project plans for optical cable backbone construction, including schedule, cost, quality, and safety controls.
• Coordinate route surveys, design drawings, line deployment, computer‑room installations, and final acceptance activities.
• Liaise with construction crews, clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to keep the project on track.
• Oversee on‑site teams, review technical deliverables, and manage material and tool inventories.
• Collect, organize, and archive all project documentation such as drawings, OTDR test reports, qualification certificates, and fiber allocation sheets.
• Prepare completion reports, engineering settlement documents, and facilitate project hand‑over to operations.

Required profile

• Minimum five years (60 months) of senior‑level experience managing optical fiber/backbone projects up to 100 km.
• At least three successfully delivered long‑distance optical cable projects.
• Deep knowledge of optical cable construction procedures, industry standards, and the full telecom supply chain.
• Proven ability to resolve technical and on‑site issues independently.
• Strong documentation and stakeholder‑management skills.
