About the role

The Auto Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain heavy‑duty trucks, ensuring safe and efficient operation in line with manufacturer specifications. The role focuses on preventive maintenance and rapid fault resolution to minimise vehicle downtime.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults on heavy‑duty trucks.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing such as cleaning, lubrication, fluid replacement and filter changes.
  • Test repaired vehicles to verify proper operation and compliance with quality standards.
  • Inspect components including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, cooling and electrical systems for wear or defects.
  • Replace or repair defective parts using appropriate tools, equipment and diagnostic instruments.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities and parts used.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Keep the workshop, tools and equipment clean, organized and in good working condition.
  • Report major defects, recurring faults and maintenance requirements to the supervisor and workshop manager.

Required profile

  • Trade Test, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Automotive Mechanics or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy‑duty trucks (CNG preferred).
  • Physical fitness to perform demanding mechanical tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Required skills

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Sound knowledge of diesel engine systems and heavy‑duty truck maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair documentation.
  • Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
