Assistant Chef

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Chef to join our team at Sumptuous Catering and Events Ltd in Ogun State, Nigeria. This full‑time, on‑site position supports the Head Chef in delivering high‑quality culinary experiences for a wide range of events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with the preparation and artistic presentation of meals.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Contribute to menu development and recipe refinement.
• Support inventory management, including stock checks and ordering.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service delivery.

Required profile

• Proficiency in meal preparation, cooking techniques, and ingredient handling.
• Ability to aid in menu planning and recipe development.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation standards.
• Organizational skills for inventory management and meal‑prep coordination.
• Excellent teamwork and communication in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
• Formal culinary training or relevant certification is a plus.
• Previous experience in catering or hospitality is highly beneficial.
• Willingness to adapt and learn new culinary techniques and trends.
