Accountant – Retail Supermarket (Owerri)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join a fast‑growing supermarket in Owerri. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling daily transactions, and supporting the business’s financial discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial transactions and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
• Review end‑of‑day sales reports and reconcile cash, POS, and bank transactions.
• Monitor revenue, expenses, and profitability across all operations.
• Detect and flag discrepancies or irregularities promptly.
• Support stock audits and verify inventory reports.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with financial regulations.
• Provide insights to improve cost control and profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven accounting experience, preferably in retail or FMCG.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of reconciliation processes.
• Ability to produce financial reporting.
