Accountant

About the role

A client of Elizabeth Maddeux is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to manage daily financial operations, keep accurate accounting records and support financial reporting. The role is based in Lekki, Lagos, on a hybrid basis (one day onsite, four days offsite), with a full-time arrangement and a salary of N100,000 to N150,000.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and document all transactions properly.
• Prepare and process payments, invoices, receipts and journal entries.
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow monitoring.
• Support external audits by preparing the required financial documents.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and reconcile general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in real estate, construction or property management is an advantage.
• Good understanding of financial reporting, bookkeeping and reconciliation.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with integrity and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Zoho Books.
• Nigerian tax regulations and statutory compliance knowledge is an advantage.
