Accountant – Financial Records & Compliance

About the role

The Accountant will ensure that all financial records are accurate, up‑to‑date and compliant with Nigerian regulations. You will support budgeting, cash‑flow monitoring and liaise with auditors to maintain the integrity of the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ledgers, journals and trial balances with precision.
• Support budgeting and forecasting by providing accurate data and variance analysis.
• Ensure timely remittance of statutory obligations such as PAYE, VAT, WHT, pension and NSITF contributions.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors, supplying required documentation.
• Monitor cash flow, flag discrepancies and escalate financial risks.
• Maintain proper filing of all financial transactions and supporting documents.
• Prepare and submit financial reports to regulatory bodies (FIRS, CAC, etc.).
• Assist in process‑improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of hands‑on accounting experience, preferably in financial services or fintech.
• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Part qualification with ICAN, ACCA or CITN (required or in view).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax regulations and statutory compliance.
• Reside in or within easy commuting distance of Isolo, Lagos.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or other ERP platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel – pivot tables, financial modelling and data reconciliation.
