U.S. Immigration Paralegal

About the role

The firm is seeking a U.S. Immigration Paralegal to support attorneys in preparing and managing immigration cases for clients in Nigeria. The role involves detailed document review, client interviewing, and preparation of various immigration forms and supporting materials.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze legal, medical, financial, and immigration documents, identifying inconsistencies, gaps, and evidentiary needs.
• Conduct structured interviews with clients and witnesses, producing accurate interview notes.
• Draft client declarations, affidavits, and witness statements that reflect factual information and client voice.
• Prepare and assemble immigration applications (e.g., VAWA petitions, asylum, waivers, family‑based petitions) and respond to government notices.
• Organize evidence, maintain case files, and manage document indexing according to firm standards.
• Track and monitor all case deadlines, providing reminders and escalating risks as needed.
• Communicate professionally with clients, providing status updates and forwarding legal queries to supervising attorneys.
• Proofread all filings and verify factual accuracy before submission.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidate with up to 12 months experience in immigration law or related legal support.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive, traumatic client situations with compassion.
• Excellent written communication skills for drafting precise legal documents.
• Proactive in meeting deadlines and managing multiple case tasks simultaneously.
