Technical Officer – Global Health Security

About the role

The Technical Officer – Global Health Security will support the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project in Akwa Ibom and Bauchi states, Nigeria. Reporting to the Senior Technical Officer, the role focuses on contact tracing, active case search and data management for priority infectious diseases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational support for contact tracing and active case search of priority diseases in Akwa Ibom and Bauchi states.
• Gather, analyse and share disease surveillance data with FHI 360, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, state authorities and partner organisations.
• Coordinate surveillance activities with the State Epidemiologist and State Disease Surveillance Notification Officers to ensure alignment with national public‑health strategies.
• Deliver capacity‑building activities, including technical assistance and training, to state health teams.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or experience in public health, epidemiology or a related field.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Senior Technical Officer and collaborate with state health officials.
• Strong analytical mindset and familiarity with public‑health surveillance systems.
