System Administrator

About the role

Moniepoint is looking for a highly skilled System Administrator to maintain the stability, performance and security of its IT infrastructure. The role is fully onsite in Port Harcourt and involves working across servers, networks, automation and end‑user support.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain servers, virtualization platforms and hybrid cloud environments (Windows Server, Linux).
• Configure, manage and troubleshoot enterprise networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs and core services such as DNS, DHCP and Directory services.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and use IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible for scalable deployments.
• Implement IT security policies, manage endpoint protection, patching, SSO, MFA and respond to security incidents.
• Onboard and offboard employees, provision workstations across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, and manage MDM solutions.
• Provide L2/L3 technical support, handle help‑desk tickets (e.g., Jira Service Management) and maintain IT asset inventory.
• Perform system updates, upgrades and performance optimisation while ensuring high availability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in system, network or IT support roles.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft or Linux/Cloud platforms are desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users.

Required skills

• Active Directory or Directory‑as‑a‑Service (e.g., Jumpcloud).
• Linux/Unix administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
• Windows Server administration and virtualization.
• Networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and equipment (Cisco, Ubiquiti).
• Scripting languages: Python, PowerShell, Bash.
• Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform, Ansible.
• Monitoring/alerting tools: Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Endpoint and Mobile Device Management solutions.
• Ticketing systems such as Jira Service Management.
• Cloud and productivity suites (Google Workspace).
