Group Chief Information Officer

About the role

The Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO) will serve as the principal technology strategist and digital leader for a leading Nigerian engineering and project support company operating in the oil & gas sector. Reporting to the Group CEO, the GCIO will define and execute the enterprise-wide IT, digital transformation, cybersecurity, data and systems agenda across all business units and operating companies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a Group‑wide technology strategy aligned with business growth and operational priorities.
• Lead enterprise digital transformation initiatives, including cloud migration, automation, AI, analytics, IoT and mobile solutions.
• Provide executive oversight of cybersecurity, information security, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Manage IT operations, infrastructure, cloud platforms and end‑user services to ensure availability, scalability and resilience.
• Define data and enterprise systems strategy, overseeing ERP, finance, HR, procurement and project management applications.
• Govern technology portfolio, budgets, vendor relationships and major project delivery.
• Build and lead a high‑performing technology organization, fostering talent development and cross‑functional collaboration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business discipline; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum 18 years of progressive IT experience with at least 8‑10 years in senior executive leadership, preferably in EPC, energy or industrial services.
• Professional certifications such as CGEIT, CISM, CISSP, TOGAF, COBIT, ITIL, PMP/PRINCE2, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer are highly desirable.
