Start-Up Discipline Specialist II

About the role

The Start-Up Discipline Specialist II will work closely with the Start‑Up Coordinator and Start‑Up Manager to ensure that OE/IIF expectations are met during project commissioning. This contractor position supports the development and execution of the start‑up plan, providing unit‑specific expertise and acting as the main liaison with Operations, Integrated Commissioning, and Facility Engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Start‑Up Coordinator and Start‑Up Manager to meet OE/IIF expectations.
• Assist in developing and executing the project Start‑Up Plan.
• Provide unit‑specific expertise during planning and production start‑up phases.
• Serve as the focal point for interfacing with Operations, Integrated Commissioning, and Facility Engineering teams.
• Develop and execute downstream start‑up procedures for safe and efficient project start‑up.

Required profile

• Minimum 48 months (4 years) of relevant experience.
• Discipline‑appropriate certification(s) or equivalent professional experience.
• Effective communication skills to describe field conditions and recommend remediation.
• Team‑player attitude, able to work with individuals without direct authority.
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent priority changes.
• Knowledge of project completions activities and typical commissioning practices.

Required skills

• Proficiency in a Work Management System.
• Experience with Systems Completion Database software such as WinPCS, MC+, CoConsole, or Orbit.
• Proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite.
