Special Education Teacher – British International School

About the role

The British International School in Ikeja, Lagos is looking for an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide targeted learning support across various classes. You will work closely with classroom teachers and the Learning Support Unit to create an inclusive environment for pupils with diverse needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialised learning support to pupils based on identified educational needs.
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) where required.
• Support learners with Autism, ADHD and other learning‑support needs using appropriate strategies.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Learning Support Unit to ensure coordinated assistance.
• Monitor learner progress, maintain records of interventions and outcomes.
• Promote an inclusive, respectful and supportive learning environment for all pupils.

Required profile

• BEd in Special Education or a related SEN qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in special education or learning‑support roles.
• Professionalism, strong sense of responsibility and ability to work collaboratively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for a school setting.
• Positive, organised and student‑focused approach.
