Senior Software Engineer – Fintech Payments (Founding Role)

About the role

SwoopSwoop is building Africa's first super‑app and is looking for a founding senior software engineer to own the payments infrastructure. You will work directly with the founders, make end‑to‑end technical decisions, and shape how payments flow through the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain infrastructure for local naira pay‑ins, card processing, and bank transfers, ensuring reliability, security and speed.
• Develop core financial systems such as ledgers, reconciliation, and banking integrations, keeping them compliant with regulators.
• Expand the food‑delivery app with broader payment functionality for customers, stores and riders.
• Assess new digital‑payments ideas with executive leadership and prototype in‑house solutions.

Required profile

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably with production payments or fintech systems.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian payment rails (cards, NIP transfers, payment providers).
• High attention to correctness – idempotency, reconciliation, security and uptime.
• Startup mindset with high ownership and willingness to solve problems beyond a fixed job description.
