Senior Manager - Government Affairs West Africa

About the role

Visa is seeking a Senior Manager to lead Government Affairs for West Africa from its Lagos office. The role will shape Visa’s regulatory and policy agenda across anglophone West African markets, influencing high‑level decision‑makers and driving favorable outcomes for the digital payments ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Government Affairs strategy for Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia, aligned with Visa’s global and regional priorities.
• Produce high‑quality position papers, policy briefs, analyses and engagement plans, managing budgets and reporting requirements.
• Monitor, analyze and influence legislation, regulations and policy initiatives that affect Visa’s interests, advocating for supportive outcomes.
• Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, industry associations, NGOs and multilateral organisations, representing Visa in strategic forums.
• Implement best practices in advocacy, stakeholder engagement and regulatory monitoring, and drive internal awareness through training and briefings.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of the digital payments industry and its economic and social impact.
• Proven ability to analyse, interpret and anticipate regulatory frameworks affecting fintech ecosystems.
• Extensive experience developing and executing stakeholder‑relations strategies in Nigeria and the wider West African political environment.
• Strong political and business acumen, creative thinking and excellent verbal and written communication.
• Budgeting and financial management experience, ability to work under pressure and as an independent self‑starter.
