Senior Legal and Compliance Officer

About the role

The Senior Legal and Compliance Officer will lead the development and maintenance of compliance frameworks, ensuring the organization meets all local and international regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor regulatory developments and update compliance frameworks in line with evolving laws and industry standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with regulators and oversee regulatory communications, reviews, and examinations.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance and regulatory risks across operations.
• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments, audits and gap analyses.
• Develop, review, and enforce compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Lead compliance training and awareness programs for employees and management.
• Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management and the Board.
• Maintain accurate documentation of compliance activities, findings, and remediation actions.
• Lead internal investigations related to compliance breaches or regulatory concerns.
• Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions, ensuring timely follow‑up.
• Provide ongoing compliance advisory support to executive leadership and business teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• ACAMS certification (compulsory).
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in compliance, risk management or regulatory roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
