Senior Finance Associate – Temporary (364 days) – Abuja

About the role

The Senior Finance Associate will support UNICEF Nigeria’s Health Section in delivering accurate and timely financial operations for child survival programmes. Working under the Finance Manager and Polio Team Lead, the associate ensures compliance with UNICEF financial rules while handling complex payment processes.

Key responsibilities

• Verify completeness, accuracy and posting of all HOPE payment plan and health‑related financial requests.
• Compile data, respond to queries, provide payment updates and confirm successful fund transfers to beneficiary accounts.
• Make adjustments to ensure financial compliance, accuracy and completeness for each payment run.
• Identify and advise on discrepancies in bank accounts and assist in corrective actions.
• Update and maintain payment records, monitoring systems and reconcile payments, balances and statements.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within international or humanitarian organisations.
• Strong knowledge of financial compliance and reporting standards.
• Ability to research, adapt and evaluate irregular cases and propose process improvements.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
