Senior Finance Associate (G‑7) – Temporary, Abuja

About the role

The Finance Associate will support the UNICEF Nigeria Health Section by ensuring accurate, timely financial transactions for the HOPE Polio Program and related health initiatives. The role involves verifying payment data, maintaining records, and assisting with year‑end financial closure.

Key responsibilities

• Verify completeness and accuracy of payment plans, update payment records, and ensure funds are transferred correctly.
• Maintain and reconcile payment monitoring systems, prepare recurring and special financial reports.
• Coordinate with the Global Service Centre and financial service providers to resolve transaction queries and correct unapplied balances.
• Prepare cost estimates, participate in budget analysis, and support year‑end grant and financial closure.

Required profile

• Secondary education (or equivalent) in a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in financial management or accounting.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
• Experience with data management in Excel, finance reporting, and the HOPE Platform.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel data extraction and formatting.
• Use of the HOPE Platform for payment processing.
