About the role

The Reporter will join Upwork’s newsroom in Ikeja to research, pitch and produce news stories that highlight trends and developments within Upwork’s marketplace and the broader world of work. This full‑time, on‑site position requires clear, accurate writing and the ability to work closely with editors and multimedia specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Gather information from multiple sources and conduct interviews.
• Verify facts and write clear, accurate news and feature articles.
• Collaborate with editors and multimedia specialists to package stories for digital channels, adding visuals, audio or video as needed.
• Monitor industry news and maintain strong relationships with sources.
• Meet tight deadlines while adhering to editorial standards and ethical guidelines.

Required profile

• Strong reporting and news‑writing skills with experience in researching, interviewing and fact‑checking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to convey complex information engagingly.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced newsroom, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong ethical judgment, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and fairness.

Required skills

• Proficiency in writing for digital platforms and integrating multimedia elements such as images, audio or video.
• Familiarity with digital publishing tools, content management systems and basic analytics.
