Project Controls Lead – Gas Pipeline Projects

About the role

The Project Controls Lead will drive the planning, scheduling, cost control and risk management for a major gas pipeline project on behalf of a Project Management Consultancy. You will work closely with the client, EPC contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver the project on time, within budget and to the required quality and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the integrated master schedule using Primavera P6, monitor critical path activities and produce recovery schedules when needed.
• Implement cost control procedures, track expenditures, prepare forecasts, cash‑flow projections and estimate‑at‑completion reports.
• Measure progress across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, validate contractor claims and generate weekly/monthly performance reports.
• Facilitate risk identification workshops, maintain the risk register and conduct schedule and cost risk assessments.
• Administer change control processes, evaluate schedule and cost impacts of variations and maintain the change register.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 15 years of project controls experience in oil & gas, with at least 10 years on large pipeline or EPC projects.
• Professional certification such as PMP, AACE CCP, PMI‑SP or equivalent is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost forecasting.
• Expertise with Microsoft Excel and Power BI for reporting and dashboard creation.
• Experience with project control systems such as SAP, Oracle or EcoSys.
• Solid understanding of risk management, change management and schedule analysis techniques.
