Program Officer, Polio Outbreaks – Nigeria Focus

About the role

The Foundation is seeking two Program Officers, Outbreak Response, to lead efforts against Type 2 circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus outbreaks in Nigeria. Based in Abuja, you will manage a portfolio of investments and support the execution of outbreak response strategies in high‑risk states.

Key responsibilities

• Implement outbreak response strategies focused on Type 2 circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus.
• Serve as the foundation’s polio focal point for high‑priority northern states, using data analysis to monitor performance, risks, and local dynamics.
• Support State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) performance improvements, including coordination, data use, and execution discipline.
• Analyze program performance across partners, grantees, and government entities, identify gaps, and drive rapid problem‑solving.
• Strengthen accountability by promoting clear expectations, following up on commitments, and communicating risks related to underperformance.

Required profile

• Experience in public‑health or outbreak response programs, preferably within polio eradication initiatives.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with government, donors, and technical agencies.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience tracking program metrics and outcomes.
