PLR Design Engineer - Expatriate

About the role

The PLR Design Engineer will provide offshore pipeline engineering support from pre‑FID design basis through to post‑FID technical follow‑up. The role ensures pipeline designs are safe, constructible, compliant with contracts and ready for procurement, fabrication and installation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage review of pipeline engineering deliverables, close technical queries and align with contract requirements.
• Lead pipeline design activities including route engineering, wall‑thickness calculations, stability, VIV, buckling, expansion, crossings and corrosion protection.
• Support installation engineering by reviewing lay tension, curvature limits, stinger configuration and weather constraints.
• Validate design maturity before procurement, welding qualification, coating, load‑out and offshore installation.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, construction and pre‑commissioning, resolving site queries and non‑conformances.
• Report progress, risks and decisions to the SURF Package Manager and project stakeholders.
• Act as the company’s technical representative with EPC contractors, vendors and third‑party specialists.
• Review contractor assumptions, calculation reports, procedures and readiness dossiers.
• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZID/HAZOP/PTR and risk workshops.
