Planning Engineer – Solar Projects

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain baseline and working schedules for mini‑grid and rural electrification projects using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Break down scope into WBS with logic, durations, milestones, and critical path across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Track progress versus plan, flag delays and risks early, and propose recovery plans.
• Prepare S‑curves, dashboards, progress reports, and variance analysis for management and clients.
• Support manpower, equipment, and materials planning across multiple rural sites.
• Integrate invoicing milestones into the project plan for cost and cash‑flow visibility.
• Conduct delay analysis and support EOT/claims documentation.
• Visit sites regularly to verify actual progress and adjust schedules accordingly.

Required profile

• Solid grounding in EPC project lifecycle and project controls.
• Strong analytical instincts to identify schedule impacts early and propose fixes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or Renewable Energy (relevant experience may substitute).
• Willingness to travel to remote and rural sites in Nigeria.
• PMP or PMI‑SP certification is a plus but not mandatory.
• Experience in mini‑grid, rural electrification, or emerging‑market projects is advantageous.

Required skills

• Hands‑on expertise with Primavera P6 for schedule building, updates, and critical‑path analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Project for project scheduling.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivots, lookups, and dashboard creation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bills of quantities (BOQs).
