Online Tutor - Safeguarding and Mental Health

About the role

Thrive Education and Innovation delivers courses on safeguarding and mental health in educational settings across Africa, along with professional development for educators and organisations. It is looking for an Online Tutor to deliver high-quality, interactive lessons aligned with its curriculum, with a particular focus on professional development. The role is fully online.

Key responsibilities

• Plan structured learning sessions and prepare digital teaching materials, adapting content to diverse learner needs
• Facilitate live online classes and give timely feedback on assignments
• Track learner progress and support participants in applying course concepts to their own educational contexts
• Collaborate with colleagues to refine course content and improve teaching practices
• Uphold the organisation's standards for learner wellbeing and engagement
• Additional tasks may include team meetings, training, and supporting educational resources or consulting projects

Required profile

• Experience delivering virtual lessons and engaging diverse learners
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and mental health in educational settings, ideally in international or African contexts
• Relevant academic background in education, teaching certification or equivalent experience is an advantage
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed and culturally responsive teaching
• Experience with schools or educational organisations and interest in professional development and consulting is beneficial

Required skills

• Design and adaptation of digital learning materials using learning platforms and basic educational technology tools
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills in virtual environments
• Organisation and time management to plan sessions, meet deadlines and manage several learner groups
