Nurse Anesthetist

About the role

The Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for assessing, preparing and monitoring patients before, during and after anesthesia, ensuring safety and comfort while collaborating with physicians, surgeons and other health professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑anesthesia assessments, obtain informed consent and develop individualized anesthesia plans.
• Administer general, regional, or local anesthesia using techniques such as intravenous, inhalational, spinal or nerve block.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs, consciousness level and pain, adjusting anesthesia as needed.
• Manage anesthesia‑related emergencies, including hypotension, hypoxia, bleeding or allergic reactions.
• Provide post‑anesthesia care, ensure safe transfer to ward or ICU and maintain accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and postgraduate diploma/certificate in nurse anesthesia.
• Valid license to practice as a Nurse Anesthetist.
• Minimum three years of experience in a hospital setting, preferably low‑resource or humanitarian.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and handle emergencies.
• Experience with sterilization duties when assigned.
