About the role

The News Editor will lead fast‑paced newsroom operations for CNBC Nigeria, shaping compelling business and financial coverage for a global audience. Reporting to the Editor‑in‑Chief, you will ensure editorial excellence, accuracy and speed across all channels.

Key responsibilities

• Set the daily news agenda and manage multi‑channel editorial planning.
• Lead a team of producers and reporters to deliver original, balanced stories.
• Collaborate with the Editor‑in‑Chief to grow viewership and drive channel growth.
• Mentor, train and develop CNBC Africa staff, upholding the highest professional standards.
• Deputise for the Editor‑in‑Chief when required.
• Break news across the channel and provide feedback on quality, style and accuracy.
• Drive long‑term editorial direction and coordinate with Southern and Eastern Africa editorial heads.

Required profile

• Extensive senior editorial experience, preferably in business or financial journalism.
• Proven ability to manage and motivate a newsroom team.
• Strong editorial judgment with a focus on accuracy, balance and fairness.
• Experience in multi‑platform news production and audience growth strategies.
• Willingness to mentor junior staff and uphold editorial standards.
