Medical Officer

About the role

We are seeking a competent and patient‑focused Medical Officer to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide quality clinical care, assess and manage patients, and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations, medical assessments and physical examinations.
• Take accurate medical histories and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Diagnose and manage common medical conditions within the scope of practice.
• Prescribe medications and treatments appropriately.
• Request and interpret relevant laboratory and diagnostic investigations.
• Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans when necessary.
• Provide preventive healthcare advice, patient education and counselling.
• Identify cases requiring specialist intervention and make appropriate referrals.
• Maintain accurate, complete and confidential patient medical records.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide initial stabilization.
• Collaborate with nurses, laboratory personnel, specialists and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in clinical meetings, quality‑improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
• Completed NYSC.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑NYSC clinical experience.
• Fully registered and licensed to practice medicine in Nigeria (MDCN practising licence).
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and patient‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good medical documentation and record‑keeping capabilities.
• High ethical standards, professionalism and a patient‑centred approach.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Ability to work independently and manage clinical responsibilities efficiently.
