Mechanical Fitter – Maintenance & Assembly

About the role

The Mechanical Fitter will ensure routine maintenance and preventive tasks are performed on all plant machinery in a timely and safe manner. This position supports smooth production operations by keeping equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, and conveyors running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine lubrication of pumps, gearboxes, couplings and other moving parts.
• Perform daily and periodic checks on bolts, nuts and alignment of equipment to prevent failures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams to guide assembly and installation work.
• Fit and assemble prefabricated metal components to build conveyors, elevators, pumps and other heavy machinery.
• Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors and hydraulic assemblies.
• Inspect parts, sub‑assemblies and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
• Report daily activities to the line manager and shift coordinator.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment.
• Organised with strong responsibility and accountability.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, able to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.
