About the role
We are seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead a Microfinance Bank in Lagos. The role combines strategic leadership, operational oversight and business development to drive growth, profitability and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic business plans to increase revenue, profitability and market share.
- Drive aggressive sales, deposit mobilisation and loan growth across all business units.
- Oversee daily bank operations to ensure efficiency, productivity and service excellence.
- Build and maintain relationships with SMEs, corporate clients, cooperatives, associations and high‑net‑worth individuals.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual business and revenue targets.
- Monitor and improve operational performance, customer experience and service delivery standards.
- Oversee credit operations, risk management, collections and loan recovery processes.
- Ensure compliance with CBN regulations, NDIC requirements and internal policies.
- Prepare and present financial and operational performance reports to the Board of Directors.
- Lead business development and strategic partnership initiatives to expand market share.
- Develop and implement operational controls and performance‑management frameworks.
- Maintain strong corporate governance and internal control systems.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- MBA or relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Mandatory possession of a Microfinance Certification (e.g., MCIB).
- 8–10 years of experience in banking or financial services, with at least 3 years in senior management within a Microfinance Bank.
- Proven track record of deposit mobilisation, loan‑portfolio growth and profitability.
- Strong understanding of microfinance operations, credit management and regulatory compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of CBN regulations and micro‑finance banking guidelines.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
Required skills
- Microfinance Certification (MCIB or equivalent)
