About the role

We are seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead a Microfinance Bank in Lagos. The role combines strategic leadership, operational oversight and business development to drive growth, profitability and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to increase revenue, profitability and market share.
  • Drive aggressive sales, deposit mobilisation and loan growth across all business units.
  • Oversee daily bank operations to ensure efficiency, productivity and service excellence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with SMEs, corporate clients, cooperatives, associations and high‑net‑worth individuals.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual business and revenue targets.
  • Monitor and improve operational performance, customer experience and service delivery standards.
  • Oversee credit operations, risk management, collections and loan recovery processes.
  • Ensure compliance with CBN regulations, NDIC requirements and internal policies.
  • Prepare and present financial and operational performance reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Lead business development and strategic partnership initiatives to expand market share.
  • Develop and implement operational controls and performance‑management frameworks.
  • Maintain strong corporate governance and internal control systems.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
  • MBA or relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Mandatory possession of a Microfinance Certification (e.g., MCIB).
  • 8–10 years of experience in banking or financial services, with at least 3 years in senior management within a Microfinance Bank.
  • Proven track record of deposit mobilisation, loan‑portfolio growth and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of microfinance operations, credit management and regulatory compliance.
  • Extensive knowledge of CBN regulations and micro‑finance banking guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

  • Microfinance Certification (MCIB or equivalent)
