Managing Director / CEO – Microfinance Bank

About the role

Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for a micro‑finance bank, overseeing daily operations, setting performance targets and guiding teams to achieve financial, operational and impact goals. The role is full‑time, on‑site in Port Harcourt and reports to the Board and investors.

Key responsibilities

• Translate board strategy into annual business plans, budgets and functional targets, and lead execution of strategic and operational objectives.
• Drive deposit mobilization, customer acquisition, lending and revenue growth while managing costs and profitability.
• Maintain relationships with the Central Bank of Nigeria, NDIC and other regulators, ensuring compliance with prudential guidelines and capital requirements.
• Lead the executive management team, chair Management Committee and ALCO meetings, and develop succession plans for key positions.
• Provide accurate and timely reports to the Board, regulators and stakeholders, and represent the bank in external engagements.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field; professional certifications (CIBN, ACA, ACCA, CFA) preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of post‑qualification experience in banking or financial services, with at least 5 years in senior management of a bank or micro‑finance institution.
• Proven track record in strategic leadership, risk management, regulatory compliance and stakeholder relationship building.
• Experience in digital banking or fintech and ability to satisfy CBN Approved Persons’ Regime fit‑and‑proper requirements.
