Maintenance and Inventory Officer

About the role

The Maintenance and Inventory Officer ensures that all equipment – especially the cold‑chain assets – remains operational and that inventory records are accurate. This position is critical for keeping the retail operation running smoothly in a fast‑moving startup environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily checks, scheduled servicing, and rapid response for chillers, freezers, blenders, generators, inverters, AC units, water systems and lighting.
• Maintain precise inventory counts for packaging, consumables, supplies and equipment spares, preventing stockouts of critical items.
• Execute inventory SOPs: daily counts, weekly audits, receiving checks, and raise discrepancies for SOP improvement.
• Manage maintenance vendors (generator, AC, refrigeration, plumbing), schedule preventive work, negotiate terms and track service history.
• Respond to equipment emergencies, diagnose faults, fix or escalate issues, and document actions.
• Keep the maintenance log up‑to‑date so any team member can understand equipment status at a glance.
• Support additional tasks as needed in a startup setting.

Required profile

• Minimum senior secondary school certificate (SSCE) or relevant trade certification.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in equipment maintenance, facilities management, refrigeration, generator servicing or similar technical roles.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate written or digital records of maintenance activities and inventory counts.
• Physically capable of standing and working throughout a full shift.
