Machine Operator - Bagging & Packaging (Polypropylene Plant)

About the role

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals is urgently recruiting Machine Operators for its Polypropylene (PP) Unit in Lagos, Nigeria, through Recruitment Giant Limited. The role covers industrial bagging and packaging of polypropylene pellets, requiring operators who can run, monitor and troubleshoot automated or semi-automated bagging machinery while keeping production quality, equipment performance and workplace safety high.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor automated and semi-automated bagging machines for polypropylene pellets and other products
• Set up and adjust equipment to meet filling weights, sealing quality and production targets
• Monitor bag filling, weighing, sealing, labelling and conveying, and check bag weights (typically 25 kg)
• Run associated equipment such as conveyors, palletisers and bag-handling systems
• Perform routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, machine adjustments and minor maintenance
• Minimise product wastage, spillage and rejected bags, and carry out routine quality checks
• Maintain production records, machine logs and shift reports, and coordinate with production, maintenance, warehouse and logistics teams
• Follow HSE procedures, keep good housekeeping and support continuous improvement

Required profile

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience operating industrial bagging, filling or packaging machines
• Proven experience with automated or semi-automated bagging and packaging equipment
• Ability to work rotational shifts in a continuous production environment
• Technical certificate, diploma or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology or Industrial Operations is desirable
• Added advantage: experience in polypropylene or polyethylene plants, high-speed bagging machines, PLC-controlled machinery, or large-scale industrial packaging
