Logistics Manager

About the role

The Logistics Manager will lead last‑mile delivery, haulage and third‑party logistics operations for Africa Delivery Technologies Limited across all service locations. This senior role requires building and managing a reliable network of riders, drivers, truck owners and transport partners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and oversee last‑mile delivery, haulage and third‑party logistics across all service locations.
• Develop and maintain a reliable pool of riders, drivers, truck owners, transporters and other 3PL partners.
• Lead sourcing, onboarding, verification, evaluation and performance management of logistics partners.
• Forecast logistics requirements and ensure adequate vehicle capacity for regular operations, peak periods and special projects.
• Negotiate haulage rates, delivery timelines and service terms while protecting commercial interests.
• Establish and monitor service standards covering availability, turnaround time, safety, cost and quality.
• Coordinate with Order Management, Fleet, Warehousing, Fulfilment, Customer Support, Finance, Business Development and Technology teams.
• Monitor partner utilisation, route efficiency, logistics costs, delivery performance and operational productivity.
• Ensure compliance with documentation, insurance, safety, security and regulatory standards.
• Prepare and present periodic reports on volumes, capacity, utilisation, costs, partner performance and incidents.

Required profile

• HND or equivalent in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, haulage, fleet or 3PL operations, including managerial or supervisory experience.
• Extensive hands‑on knowledge of haulage business, vehicle sourcing, pricing, route planning and vendor management.
• Established network of reliable riders, drivers, truck owners, transporters and haulage companies.
• Proven experience managing last‑mile delivery, interstate haulage, third‑party logistics partners and asset‑light logistics operations.
• Strong knowledge of different vehicle types and their suitability for various cargo, routes and delivery requirements.
• Experience negotiating vendor rates, managing service‑level agreements and controlling logistics costs.
• Good knowledge of vehicle documentation, insurance, road safety, security and transport regulations.
• Strong leadership, commercial awareness, negotiation, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to forecast logistics requirements and maintain adequate delivery and haulage capacity across multiple locations.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and relevant logistics platforms.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, respond promptly to operational disruptions and travel when required.
