Legal Manager – Real Estate

About the role

CoreHR Consulting is seeking an experienced Legal Manager to lead its real‑estate legal function in Lagos. The role involves providing strategic legal advice on property transactions, corporate matters, and contractual obligations while ensuring compliance with Nigerian law.

Key responsibilities

• Review, prepare and manage legal documentation for acquisition, disposal, leasing, tenancy and development transactions.
• Analyse title and property documents, flagging legal risks and recommending specialist input when needed.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and operational contracts with clients, contractors, consultants and vendors.
• Maintain a central contract register, monitor key dates, obligations and renewals.
• Provide corporate and commercial legal support, including governance and statutory documentation.
• Identify and record legal and contractual risks in a legal‑risk register.
• Coordinate external solicitors, brief counsel and track progress of outsourced matters.
• Advise the Managing Director on corporate, commercial, property and contractual issues, highlighting material risks.

Required profile

• LLB and BL; called to the Nigerian Bar and in good standing.
• 5–8 years post‑call experience, with demonstrable expertise in real‑estate/property law and corporate/commercial practice.
• Proven track record reviewing and negotiating property, construction, consultancy, tenancy, lease and commercial agreements.
• In‑house legal experience preferred.
• Experience managing multiple external solicitors and legal matters simultaneously.
• Company secretarial or corporate governance experience is an advantage.
