Lead, Laboratory Safety & Compliance

About the role

The Lead, Laboratory Safety & Compliance ensures that all laboratory operations adhere to the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements, protecting staff, patients and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and enforce laboratory safety policies, procedures and training programs in line with local, national and international regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, management and external agencies to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations and accreditation requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of safety records, compliance reports and training activities.

Required profile

• 6–10 years of experience in laboratory safety, compliance or risk management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Professional certification in laboratory safety or compliance (e.g., CHMM, CSP) is highly desirable.
• Must be a resident of Imo State or willing to relocate.
