Junior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Accountant to manage daily accounting tasks within our oil and gas operations. The role involves preparing financial statements, handling tax compliance, and supporting budgeting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial statements for accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Compute taxes owed, prepare tax returns and ensure timely remittance to the state board of internal revenue.
• Develop, maintain and analyze budgets, producing periodic reports comparing budgeted versus actual costs.
• Prepare fixed‑asset schedules and conduct monthly/annual stock‑taking.
• Provide internal and external audit support, including recommendations for LIRS and FIRS compliance.
• Carry out special investigative assignments authorized by management.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in the oil and gas industry.
• BSc in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Sage and QuickBooks accounting software.
• Advanced MS Excel skills, including complex formulas and data analysis.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and GAAP.
