Inbound Team Lead – Lead Warehouse Receiving Operations

About the role

The Inbound Team Lead will supervise and guide a team of inbound operators at Jumia, ensuring the efficient, accurate receipt, inspection and storage of incoming goods and materials. This role oversees the entire receiving process, coordinates with cross‑functional teams and drives productivity, safety and performance within the inbound area.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coach inbound operators to guarantee accurate receipt, inspection and storage of shipments.
• Verify quantities, inspect items for damage or discrepancies and record information in inventory systems.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Inventory Management and Operations to prioritize receiving activities and resolve discrepancies.
• Assign tasks, monitor workflow and implement improvements to optimise performance and efficiency.
• Conduct regular inspections of inbound areas and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and addressing hazards promptly.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, reconcile discrepancies and support cycle counts and physical inventories.

Required profile

• Proven experience in warehouse operations or inbound receiving with demonstrated leadership skills.
• Strong knowledge of receiving, inspection and inventory management processes in a fast‑paced distribution environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with team members, management and stakeholders.
• Organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays as operational needs dictate.

Required skills

• Operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks (certification a plus).
• Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related inventory reporting tools.
• Ability to conduct safety inspections and enforce compliance with SOPs.
