HSE & QMS Officer

About the role

Alpha Mead Group, a total real estate solutions company offering facilities management, development advisory, security systems, training, healthcare management and financing services, is looking for a full-time HSE & QMS Officer in Abuja. The role covers implementing and monitoring health, safety and quality policies, conducting inspections, managing risk and quality documentation, and supporting audits and emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor HSE and QMS policies, procedures, standards and programmes.
• Carry out routine HSE and quality inspections and identify hazards, assess risks and recommend control measures.
• Maintain risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Monitor permit-to-work compliance and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, recommending corrective actions.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions and awareness sessions, and monitor contractor HSE compliance.
• Run emergency preparedness drills and check firefighting equipment, PPE, first aid and emergency systems.
• Support environmental management, including waste management and pollution prevention.
• Coordinate QMS documentation, run internal quality audits and track corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare HSE and quality performance reports, support internal and external audits and close audit findings.
• Investigate customer complaints on safety or quality and promote a strong safety and quality culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, Sciences or a related discipline.
• 5 years' experience in HSE, QMS, facilities management, construction, manufacturing or a related environment.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, HSE Level 3 or equivalent certification is highly desirable; ISO 9001/QMS certification or experience is an advantage.
• Good understanding of Nigerian HSE regulations and relevant international standards.
• Good professional appearance, diplomatic, tactful, discreet, flexible, resourceful and dependable.
