HR Manager – Microfinance Bank

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic HR Manager to join our team in the banking sector. The role focuses on driving people operations, employee engagement, compliance, and organisational development within a micro‑finance bank.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the bank’s business objectives.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding and talent acquisition for all departments.
• Manage employee relations and resolve workplace issues confidentially.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws, banking regulations and internal HR policies.
• Coordinate performance management, appraisals and development plans.
• Design and deliver training programmes to boost productivity and retention.
• Handle payroll coordination, compensation, benefits administration and leave management.
• Maintain HR policies, employee records and documentation.
• Foster a positive workplace culture and drive engagement initiatives.
• Advise management on organisational structure, workforce planning and HR best practices.
• Monitor disciplinary procedures and ensure fair implementation of policies.
• Prepare HR reports and analytics to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years HR experience, with at least 4 years in an HR Manager role.
• Prior experience in banking or micro‑finance banking.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, etc.) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with HR management systems.
