House Governess – Family Assistant

About the role

The House Governess will oversee the daily, weekly and monthly routines of a high‑net‑worth family in Ikoyi, Lagos. Working closely with the Domestic Manager and nannies, you will ensure a smooth, structured environment for the children and support the household’s overall operation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage children’s schedules, school activities, extracurriculars, tuition and holiday programmes.
• Monitor homework, exam preparation and maintain organized school, medical and personal records.
• Coordinate medical, dental and specialist appointments.
• Oversee clothing, school supplies, toiletries and other essentials.
• Liaise with the chef on meals, nutrition and snacks.
• Communicate with schools, tutors and activity providers; maintain family calendars.
• Organise birthdays, gifts, holidays and special occasions.
• Support children’s development and positive routines, including French communication when needed.
• Assist with household inventory and grocery monitoring as required.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Principal.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior childcare or private household role (e.g., House Governess, Family Assistant, Household Manager).
• Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
• High level of discretion, confidentiality and professionalism.
• Fluent English; French proficiency is a significant advantage.
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally with the family.

Required skills

• Fluent English communication.
• French language proficiency (highly desirable).
