Hospital Pharmacist – Patient‑Focused Role

About the role

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and patient‑focused Pharmacist to join our team at Dukes Neurosurgery and Specialist Hospital. The successful candidate will ensure safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage medication therapy and ensure medication safety across the hospital.
• Provide patient counselling and pharmaceutical care.
• Oversee drug dispensing, storage, and inventory management.
• Continuously improve pharmacy services and medication safety processes.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from an accredited institution.
• Full registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and a valid practising licence.
• Minimum of 2 years post‑NYSC experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting.
• Experience in a specialist hospital or clinical environment is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and pharmaceutical care.
• Ability to review prescriptions and identify drug interactions, contraindications, and medication‑related problems.
• Excellent patient counselling and communication abilities.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and pharmacy management systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication accuracy and patient safety.
