Breast Surgeon

About the role

The Breast Surgeon will lead the diagnosis, treatment and surgical management of benign and malignant breast conditions. This senior position involves performing complex procedures, guiding multidisciplinary teams and contributing to research and policy development within the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of breast diseases, including cancer, benign tumours and inflammatory conditions.
• Perform advanced surgeries such as mastectomies, breast‑conserving operations, sentinel lymph node biopsies and oncoplastic reconstructions.
• Run outpatient clinics to assess patients before and after surgery, providing education on diagnoses, treatment options and recovery.
• Collaborate with oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and plastic surgeons in multidisciplinary team meetings to design comprehensive care plans.
• Supervise junior doctors, registrars and medical students, delivering training on the latest breast surgery techniques.
• Lead clinical research projects, publish findings and present at conferences to advance breast cancer care.
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection control, patient safety standards and participate in audits and governance activities.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with a Fellowship in Breast Surgery and certification in Advanced Surgical Oncology.
• Minimum seven years of post‑specialisation experience performing complex breast and oncoplastic procedures.
• Proven leadership in surgical teams, experience in developing clinical protocols and involvement in hospital governance.
